John Case receives Presidents Award from Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation President, Larry Ambrose

Inter Neighborhood Cooperation, a Denver organization of 95 Registered Neighborhoods held their yearly Awards banquet and Silent Auction on January 30.   John Case was chosen to be the recipient of the prestigious Presidents Award by INC.  This award is given by the President of INC who chooses an outstanding community member who is works for the community to make it a better place.  John Case has certainly earned this award for his untiring work and support of Friends of Denver Parks to win our right to vote on the disposition of parks according to the Denver City Charter

DPS To Start Construction At The Hampden Heights Site

dps.hhnp.schoolIn spite of the pending trial scheduled in Denver District Court May 19,2014 the DPS construction team is planning to start construction at the Hampden Heights site this month. There is a community meeting on Jan 22nd to share information about construction schedule, final design, city’s water quality project, and plans for the future school programming. The meeting will be on Jan 22nd 6:30 pm. at Hamilton MS.

Video: Former parks official denounces open space “heist”

The management of Denver’s park system under Mayor Michael Hancock’s administration has generated controversies on several fronts, as detailed in our current feature, “Parks and Wreck.” But perhaps the most serious dispute between the mayor and park lovers has to do with his decision to swap eleven acres of cherished open space in the Cherry Creek corridor — land that city officials have described as “blighted” and “degraded” — for an office building. It’s a deal that his critics denounce in a new video as an “abduction” of a park.
